Have a unopen MWR04B (Network Everywhere brand) on hand and searching
internet does not find too many comments about this wireless router.
It seems its a old Linksys product.

I need some advise urgently from experts out there that whether should
I keep it or going for something else. I am a newbie to this Wireless
World.

It works fine, I just bought one. $39.99 I made Fry's give me there online
advertised price at outpost.com. I had to go to the store manager to get it
done though, all the sales people and sales managers said they could not
match there online advertised price. I knew if I got to the store manager
and they looked up my personal purchasing history he would sell it to me for
any price I wanted to pay. $|: ) But anyway, back to the Network Everywhere
Router. It does run hot but there is a big heatsink inside on the main
proccessor so thats not a problem. The wireless portion works great same
range as the $100 Netgear WRTG614? I returned. Has great configurable
menus(Alot of options) and help on the CD. The only thing I don't like about
it is that you cannot set the wireless portion of the router to accept only
certain MAC address's. But it will allow you to filter MAC address's that
you specify. The Netgear allows you to restrict access to certain MAC
address's. But the Network everywhere has all the rest of the bells and
whistles including a preemble setting which is great if your client can be
configured the same way. It comes with ROM version 1.03 allready installed.
I went to there website for an upgrade and they had Ver. 1.02 as an upgrade
so I passed. I've had no problems that others describe, its been up for a
week now and it works consistently well.

Enjoy, if you have any other questions I'll be glad to help,
Peter

When I first installed it, whilst surfing the web the router would time out
after about 30 seconds. Then coincidentally I had to run "repair" off of my
Windows XP cd because I was having some unrelated Windows XP problems. Once
I ran repair then the router worked perfectly. And for some reason it
doesn't get as hot as it did when it was timing out.

It is a steal for the price.

This router NWR04B is definitely a piece of shit, so hot to touch and it
keeps stalling every 5 to 10 mins, need to power cycle it.

An RMA came last Friday and already experience 3 stops in 4 days, call
the Linksys RMA department again and demand for an upgrade to a total
different model (Linksys BEFW11S4).

UPnP isn't working at all, after I replace it with a Linksys brand I
notice MSN Messenger will put its own ports into the forward page, but
not the NWR04B router.

I tried with 3 NWR04B routers in total (return 1 within a week of
purchase and 1 from RMA) and conclude this product is a shame, don't
expect you can host your webserver at all because once it is stall, only
power cycle will break it out from crap. (ps. hard reset button not
responding during the stalling, both RMA and my second one are all the
same with this). Both firmware 1.02 and 1.03 are the same, same stall
every once in awhile, totally unacceptable in Network adminstration point
of view unless you have this POS site beside you all the time.

Don't count on downloading stuff when you sleep, all you get is pissing
yourself off. I paid only USD$15 different to upgrade to my BEFW11S4,
just ask for the RMA department from linksys, not customer service.
