NTP server for my router

Hi,

I have a "Default NTP server" field in the menu Tools/Tome of my Dlink 614+.
I don't know if I can an URL or an IP address in that field to some public
NTP server. Dlink manual don't say much.

Is it possible to do that? Is there a public NTP time server for Eastern
time?

ROn

You can try these:

time.nist.gov 192.43.244.18
ns.arc.nasa.gov 128.102.16.2
tick.usno.navy.mil 192.5.41.40

It doesn't have to be Eastern Time. The time servers are all GMT.
It doesn't have to be a "public" server. In fact, less usage of the
publicly listed servers is probably a good thing.

Your ISP probably provides a time service.
Sometimes it isn't announced, but your smtp server will respond to ntp
commands.

The other thing is that it doesn't make a lot of difference what your
router is set to, except for logs.

It might be useful if you set your computer to ntp time.

Windows XP has an "internet time" tab if you double-click the clock in the
sytem tray. Other Windows can be set to the timeserver of your choice
using a few commands. These don't sync very often, but they are reasonable
for home PC usage.

Hi Ron,

you can use "us.pool.ntp.org" in your country.
Timezones don't matter with NTP.

Yeah, I've never been able to get this to work properly on my 614+ either.
Gave up in the end, hoping the next firmware might fix it.
