NTP Server issues

I'm having a little bit of a problem getting an SNTP server to
work. I have set my Global Catalog Server or PDC using the setting
net time /setsntp:clock.via.net. I have also opened a UDP port on the
firewall that is supposed to be used by the Time Service. Still, I
have the wrong time and I get errors in the event log that I cannot
find a time server. When I do a net time /query I am old that my
current time server is clock.via.net. I have tried different time
servers but to no avail. I am missing something?

Hello Andy,

A global catalog must not be the PDC, you can have multiple GC's. Check in
ADUC the Operations master properties to be sure you have the right one.
Which port did you open, 123?

Best regards

It is UDP port 123.

I only have one Catalog Server. It is a Windows 2000 Server running
Exchange 2000. The other servers here are all Windows 2003 and the
hoops that I have had to jump through to make them Catalog Servers
have not been worth it. Hopefully I will be replacing the main server
later this year with Windows Server 2003 and Exchange Server 2003
included.
