I haven't recieved one yet, my monthly average is between 30-45gb if even
that. But a friend from work, recieved a warning letter for downloading 171gb
in one month. What is the highest and lowest totals for people on here who
have recieved them.

John

He must have left say a TV channel spooling 24/7 at 512kb[its]/s as that is
almost exactly what this figure works out at*. OTOH NTL could be talking
BS.

*512k/8*60*60*24*31 = 171,717,600kb

He's on a 2mb connection and was always talking about downloading this and
that, how his computer was on for a week straight downloading from usenet
which is usually max connection speed. So 171gb could be about right. All he
got was a warning telling him if he breached it again, he could get his
account suspended.

BTW how does your sum work??

I get the 512k divided by what 8? i take it the 24 is hours and 31 is days
what are the two 60's for??

Excuse my ignorance

well from what I can see:

the 512k is kiloBITS per second, so divide by 8 to get kiloBYTES
then *60 for KB per min, then again for KB by hour... *24 for the day
*31 for the days in the month.

At a rough guess, to change from hours to minutes (x60) and to seconds
(x60).
