I caught an item in the business news section of BBCi this
morning that NTL are going for a basic broadband speed of 10MBps
"at no extra cost". Can anyone elucidate please? I'm on the
current basic level of 1MB (though my bills still say 300K).

Din't hold your breath - the upgrade will be completed by the end of
next year. Current 3Mb customers will get the upgrade first, as will new
customers, then the rest of us.

Nope - just someone who's read the press release, and is an existing
customer. The last promised free upgrade in my area took about 4 months
longer than was initially promised. (Jumping from 750k to 2Mb). Even
when the letter arrived, it didn't happen by the date on the letter.

I upgraded from 300K to 1MB by unplugging/plugging in the power cord on the
modem. I never did get anything in the post.
