NTL Offers to existing NTL users

My folks are currently have an NTL landline.

I am thinking of getting them NTL broadband - mainly because I don't think
that the dialup connections are cost effective and are too slow in todays
use of the internet. I also don't want my folks to end up downloading a
dialler that calls 09 numbers - they're really quite dozy.

Other than the first 3 months half price line rental, is there any offer out
there that would be good for my folks? I guess as an existing customer,
they don't qualify for the 12 months free phone line rental?

Thanx.

AMO

And hopefully don't read this group or you'll be cut out of their will
:-)

If that is the only telephone service in the house then if a Broadband
connection is desired you don't have any choice of supplier.

Discounting the merits, or otherwise, of NTL Internet services I would
suggest that a review is made of the cost of phone calls via NTL which
may no longer be competitive with the tariffs of other suppliers. A
switch to any other telecom supplier would require a BT line which
would then give you a choice of ISP for Broadband services.

It may not matter too much in your case but what I dislike the most
with NTL is the upload connection speed at just 128kbps.

I heard that there will be a choice of providers soon/now(?) via NTL.
Does anyone know about this?

BTW I don't want to jinx myself but I'm coming to the end of the 60day
trial with them and the service has been good (one mistake with
billing which they recitifed immediatley and foolproof
connection...but I'll see how easy it is to actually end the trial
before I commit myself to a hearty recommendation...

cheers
