NTL = No Broadband Here????

The NTL checker tells me i can get TV and phone, no problem
Then why does it say i CAN'T get cable internet connection ???

there are some cable areas that are "analogue" or in some other way
incompatible with providing an internet connection. May help to say
where this is.

I think you are at the stage where I fell out with NTL.
Being a very happy phone and TV customer I wanted their broadband.
The checker on the interweb said that, yes, I could have broadband, so I
gave them all my details, they took the first payment, and hey presto!
no broadband was installed. So when I (eventually) spoke to an NTL
droid, they were "happy to confirm" that broadband was *not* available
in my area.
To cut a *very* long story short, don't trust either the web checker, or
the call centre (although the call centre may be more accurate). Go find
an NTL installer working in a nearby street and ask him (they are rarely
her!). Make sure it is a nearby street, as installation varies in very
short distances.
If you cannot, really cannot get broadband, it's probably because you
are in an old analogue area.
If you are in an NTL area, Telewest is not an option.
I'm now with BT and Sky - lesser of two evils, and NTL is evil (well,
maybe just incompetent).
