NTL and a Vtruck problem

My mate has NTL broadband. He recently tried to get rid of some spyware and
restored XP to a previous date. Now his NTL connection has gone. He is
connected via USB modem. He has tried reloading the software from the
installation CD but it only goes a short distance and then an error message
along the lines of unable to load cd due to a Vtruck dbg error.
Now I can find info on Vtruck exe but not dbg.
Does anyone know how to get the installation cd to load.

We have tried NTL, they checked the line and as it wasn't at fault didn't
want to know.

Thanks

I seem to remember this problem being resolved by a colleague at work on his
home machine, by updating the winsock.dll file, rebooting and then trying
again to load the CD.

Although I have found this site that may help you.

Sounds like our install about a year ago with DSL to SBC. We ended up not
installing the telco stuff on our PC but bought a Netgear RP614 and connect
thru it. There were lots of advantages to this and, onced we had the
Netgear, it went up easily. I really don't know if the RP614 is still the
way to go. Mgmt wanted us to use Cisco and that is what we use now. Its
good but it cost lots more.
