It would appear numerous NTL customers are receiving their monthly bills
informing them of a price increase from £34.99 to £39.99.

Has anyone else heard about this? And will we be able to terminate our
1mbit contracts early as a result of this price rise? That is, if the
price rise is passed onto existing customers..?

Any other information, appreciated.

It doesn't seem to be totally true!!! Or at least not as bad as you are
suggesting.

The OFFICIAL ntl price list - effective from 1st July - says an increase from
£34.99 to £37.99 (NOT £39.99)

This is good to hear.

Gah. It's still an increase which, compared to ADSL, makes NTL uncompetitive.
Basically, I have NTL at Uni, of which I will be here till September. It
doesn't make financial sense to cancel now with such a short period left.
However, to people who use NTL at home it certainly would make sense in the
long run to switch to a cheaper ADSL provider.

<Looks>

Well, I can life with the £3 charge for the next few months, but it's still
uncompetitive

Cheers for the price list.

Under their own terms and conditions you are entitled to reject new terms
and conditions without penalty. AFAIK that is a requirement by law

Ok, if your exchange supports it

Mine, otoh, doesn't. And I reckon is very unlikely to anytime
soon. Oh well, only another 4/5 months of NTL left. The 1gig
cap was bad enough, but £37.99 for a 1mbit service with only
ONE sticky IP just doesn't cut it. Zen 1mbit is £39 but with a
/28 subnet! Sorry NTL, you truly are the shit.

Actually it's a /29 subnet as standard, but you can pay extra and get a
/28. (or /27 etc..)

I can't disagree with the NTL comment though
