NTDS old log files

I'm trying to recuperate some space on a C: drive on a W2k Server on which
we're running SQL server and its a BDC. In the C:\WinNt\NTDS folder I found
some log files that are two years old (2003 time stamp). They are res1.log
and res2.log, they each occupy 10,240 KB. I need to now if its safe to
delete these files. Is there a way to keep these logs cleaned up
automatically? Does anyone know of any links explaining this. Can I delete
these safely?

This looks like an NT 4.0 machine upgraded to Windows 2000+ domain
controller. But there is no concept of "BDC" if the machine is functioning
as a Windows 2000+ domain controller. Can you clarify?
