Hello

We have two LAN networks connected via a router.
On network 1 there is an exchange server and on network 2 there is a
backup server.

When I try to backup the exchange store it sends a few megabytes then it
aborts with the following error:

Backup started on 2005-12-25 at 17:20.
The 'Microsoft Information Store' returned 'The specified network name
is no longer available.

' from a call to 'HrESEBackupRead()' additional data '-'The 'Microsoft
Information Store' returned 'The specified network name is no longer
available.

' from a call to 'HrESEBackupRead()' additional data '-'
The operation was ended.
Backup completed on 2005-12-25 at 17:22.
Directories: 0
Files: 1
Bytes: 753 076
Time: 1 minute and 5 seconds

I got a hint that it could be caused by the raw smb calls that ntbackup
does when backing up and that my router wouldnt support ICMP unreachable
etc. Tried blackhole, disable raw smb and other stuff on the backup
server and 4000kb tcpwindow on the exchange server. Nothing helped.

Does anyone have an idea what I could do?

Thanks

Hi Daniel.

I advise you to run network monitor or similar tool to analyze the
network traffic. Compare captures of local and remote ntbackup sessions
to see what type of traffic does not get through.

Hope this helps,
