1. If it is possibe make different physical segments for win2003-XP network,
then do that so NT-Client-NT Server network is on different physical segment
and
win2003 -XP network is on another.
2. If above is not possible, then do not install win 2003 DHCP server yet,
set the XP clients as and when you add to use static IP all option
configuring manually.
When migration is complete, then install DHCP and
set client to use DHCP.
The reason is that if NT and win 2003 are on same physical segment, and you
install
DHCP on win 2003 it must be authorised, and it will not allow any other
unauthorised
DHCP to work in the network so you also must authorise NT DHCP on win 2003.
And you don't have controll on clients as to which DHCP server it must use,
they
can obtain lease from any of the two DHCPs.
