Hi

I am migrating a nt4 domain over to win2k3 ad domain and am wondering which
is the best way to sort out the dhcp servers.

nt4 192.168.1.1 -254 for the dhcp scope. I want to put in a dhcp server for
the 2k3 domain so that when i move the users onto the domain they pick up
addresses from the new dhcp server. Both domains are on the same subnet.

any ideas?? what the new scope should be set at ??

Thanks

SBY

DHCP doesn't work the way you seem to think it does. A DHCP client doesn't
look for a DHCP server in its domain, it asks for a DHCP lease and takes
the first one offered to it, from the quickest DHCP server to reply.

I'd suggest maybe switching over purely to the W2003 DHCP for the whole
network, or using seperate IP subnets for the two domains, whichever is
easier in your situation.

I'm always surprised at "professionals" who STILL have to be asked:
"Have you checked (event viewer / syslog)".
