Not getting Connection-specific DNS Suffix when connecting via VPN

I'm connecting to a SBS 2003 server via vpn and I found that I can't
connect to anything using \\server\share. I did an IPCONFIG /ALL and
found that I don't have a "Connection-specific DNS Suffix" for that
connection (as I do with my local connection and other VPN connections
that I have used). I tried connecting to \\SERVER.DOMAIN.LOCAL\SHARE
and it worked fine. I looked at the server and couldn't find where it
was going wrong.

Any suggestions out there??

Manually configure the DNS suffix in the remote client's connection
properties (TCP/IP advanced properties).
