Randy, the problem is most people don't know what they're running on their
systems from Symantec (Norton). You couple that with clicking the Norton
icon in the Systray and selecting "Exit" - and it doesn't. If you check
under the hood (which most people don't even know how to do), you'll find
all that "Exit" choice does is close the icon - everything else continues to
run in the background and does interfere with installations. Even Norton's
anti-virus will do that, since it checks each file changed or written new to
the hard drive. That's why it is recommended to close all open and running
programs prior to any installation.
