Noob question about VPN routers

I have an encrypted wireless home network set up (all machines running XP
home) and will be working from home soon. My company wants me to install a
VPN router before my wireless router so my work machine can talk to their
network. My boss says that my home network should be able to "tunnel
through", without being visible to them. Is this true? I don't want anyone
in my company being able to spy on my private stuff, such as being able to
look into my home computers or see what websites I visit. Any advice would
be appreciated!

I think, in order for anyone to provide the proper answer, we'd need to know
the make/model of your existing home router and that of your company.

Based on that information - it might be determined that your existing router
can achieve the VPN (or not).
