Hi group !

We just replaced or Win2000 server with 2 Win2003 R2 servers.
We have a professionnal Canon Printer/Scanner/Fax machine (iRC 3200).
It was configured to send scans directly on a network share.
I am trying to change this configuration so that the scans are
sent to the new server, but I can't browser the shares of this new
Win2003 server.
My Win2000 server is still online, and I can browse the shares of
this server.
The credentials have not changed (I just promoted the Win2003
server, made him a GC gave him all the roles, demoted the
Win2000...). Everything works fine, but this scanner stuff.

Does anyone have an idea of what difference between the Win2003
server and the Win2000 sever could cause this behaviour ?
I checked the logs, but nothing is logged actually !

Thanks a lot !

Check that Netbios over TCP/IP is enabled on the new server. (Advanced
TCP/IP settings | WINS tab).

Hi Bill

It was not enabled (it was by default, as per DHCP).
I enabled it, but I still can't browse the Win2003's shares from
my scanner.

Do you have another idea ?

The major difference with W2003 is that the security is tighter by
default. You may need to enable some lower level of authentication (it
requires MSCHAPv2 by default) and/or turn off SMB signing for a non-Windows
client.

I thought it would be something like that.

In my security policy, I disabled
Microsoft Network Server : Digitally sign communications (always)
and it worked !

Now, is there any other way for me to access this win2003 server
without disabling this ? Is there a way to set this setting so
that communications are encrypted only with clients that support it ?

Regards
