No Wireless Network detected

I have an MN-700 that is configured as a WPA. A laptop
that I have an MN-720 installed in works fine. My son has
an older laptop with Win98SE on it in which we are trying
to get a second MN-720 to work. The MN-720 that he has
communicated fine with the WPA when installed in my laptop
with XP. No matter which MN-720 is installed in the
Win98SE no wireless network is detected during
configuration. I do believe it did work briefly just
before the last broadband upgrade was installed. The
wireless LED just flashes on and off. I have double-
checked the SSID, WEP key and have unistalled and
reinstalled the software. As a note, when selecting
Adapter Settings from the tools menu in the Broadband
Network Utility, the channel and Network name will briefly
flash values then disappear. If I select an "AD-Hoc"
network (which it is not) I get a solid green wireless LED
displayed.

Thanks

Well to get the Windows 98 SE computer to connect you are going to need
to either wire it or switch from WEP to WPA as the broadband network
utility doesn't support WPA.

There are only 2 other options upgrade the computer to Windows XP SP2 or
install some third party software to add WPA support. I don't know of
any software that can do that on Windows 98 though.

Try removing the new driver for the MN 720 that was installed with the MS
upgrade on the 98 laptop. See if you can install the older driver that was
used before. After installing the older driver, try again. There's a
reported problem with the new driver for the MN 720 and 730. The driver
file should be located in c:\windows\system on the 98 laptop. Look for
"mn720-50.sys".
