Hint: Reasons are strange only before they are understood.
I don't have a specific answer, but I don't think your unspecified
application will fail due to protocol type forwarding problems. The
only reason I can think of having seperate TCP and UDP selections is
if you want TCP to go to one IP address on the LAN, while UDP goes to
another IP on the LAN. I can think of a few exotic applications that
might benifit from this feature, but I've never seen any in common
use. In literally any case that I can conjur, redirecting TCP, UDP,
and ICMP to an inside LAN IP address will suffice to get the
application to run.
So, what are you trying to accomplish and what do you have to work
with?
