No Service Being Found

I have the Dell System OptiPlex GXi 5200M and I hooked up
my home network but windows 98 isn't finding the
service. When I go into the Device Manager and go to
Network Adapters, there is no network card in the list.
I judt recently re-formatted and I think the built in
network card is not installed.
