About 3 days ago i was on the web when the screen went pink/red and froze. I
had to take out the battery to switch it off and since then my laptop has
difficulty recognising networks.

I initially uninstalled then re-installed it again and it worked but
everytime i turn off the computer and the wireless box it happens again. I've
now figured out that if I turn them both on at the same time then restart the
computer it automtaically connects and it detects all networks no problem
(including my neighbours).

I'm all uptodate with norton and no other programmes seem to be affected.
The red screen thing makes me think a virus but i'm useless at stuff like
this and can't seem to find the problem.

any suggestions?

Hi
You always turn the Wireless Box (aka Wireless Cable/DSL Router, or Access
Point) before you turn the computer On.
Your computer is probably looking for the Router to get an IP address. If
the Wireless "Box" is Off the computer can not get ready for Networking.
