No internet downloads...different ME machine.

Have another ME machine at work that will display any web
page I want, but I can't get any downloads to complete in
a timley fashion.

Small files take all night to download if they don't time
out.

I've reset many of the internet options choices to
default, then to the lowest settings in an effort to
locate the offending settings or applets.

I've scanned for virus and malware/spyware with several
detection programs, removed anything found, but alas, no
improvement.

Even the windows update site will scan and show the
needed critical updates, but I've had to download to a
diffrent machine and the copy over and run the
executables to update the OS.

Any thoughts will be appreciated! TIA
