Is there a way to just get dlc from host integration server? I want to
upgrade my 2000 printer server to 2k3, but I have lots of printers connected
parallel to old HP jetdirects that don't do lpr, only dlc. The upgrade
system compatibility check says I won't have dlc or HP network ports after
the upgrade. Unless I find a solution, I can't upgrade. The compatibility
check result says I need Host Integration Server (for $$) to get dlc on
2003.

signed unhappy camper.

I hope you got the answers you were looking for. DLC is installed as part of
the HIS install. I believe you must install SP1 first. It is located in the
HIS subdirectory under the system folder under drivers I believe. Also I
upgrade all of our NT servers to W2K3 from SNA 4.0 to HIS and migrated all
the printers. I am using many jet directs but I use local print queues
assigned to the IP addresses of the jet directs then use SNA print service to
assign the printer lu(s) to the appropriate print queue. Also make sure the
queues are local and you do not use any NT drivers and OEM drivers if at all
possible.
