I installed a 10\100 LAN card in pc today running Windows 98. Straightforward
enough but now error messages coming up when booting stating Display Settings
are wrong, or no adaptor. System cannot find machine.cat and machine.inf.
Cannot reinstall drivers as error message 'Detection Manager Error' appears.
Also, the path for the D:\ is no longer available. Have tried taking the LAN
card out again, but this does not solve problem. CAN ANYONE PLEASE HELP??!!??

Looks like the drivers of your LAN card really screwed
things up. That's what happens when you buy the really
cheap stuff, the drivers aren't well tested.
