I will just ask out in the blue,

Have sipgate blocked for calls to 0845-0870 numbers..
Fount this on their website:

Calling with sipgate: May I call special numbers like those with the
prefix 900.

Special "toll" numbers are not reachable by the sipgate networks. The
numbers are closed due to security considerations, and will not become
available.

Does that apply for the localrate/national rate numbers aswell ?

It does seem to. Having just got a sipgate account, I tried both an
0845 and an 0870 number the other day and got engaged signal with both
of them, so I assume that sipgate don't allow access to them - despite
their website giving no indication of this.

Think this has been mentioned before (but perhaps in uk.telecom only)
and view was that despite some past mention of "in the future" there's
little or no incentive for them to allow such numbers, since they could
be used to access indirect access gateways for cheap international calls

There are, however, 020 access numbers for 18866 and 1899 which might be
usable (sorry, I have not tried to register a Sipgate number for these).

I've noticed the same problem. You can sometimes get around this by
converting the 0870 number to a real geographical number with the help
of the following:
