Thank you for all previous information but i still have an outstanding
question with regards NLB:

What is the reason for not having both NIC cards on the same subnet, as on
the configuration we require we only require the one IP range i.e. the NLB
will be on the internal LAN and accessed by users locally and remotely by
port mapping on the firewall, we also require good network connectivity
between the domain with this machine so i would have thought the other card
will be used for domain connectivity etc.

Am i missing an important concept or will this method suffice

NLB means balancing between multiple machines.

What you seem to search is Teaming of multiple NIC.
The problem of having multiple interfaces shown in the same subnet is based
on the way several services are acting in the context of name resolution.
This can easily fail on a multihomed system with several IP addresses in the
same subnet causing various connectivity issues.
