/etc/hosts file is the source for the hosts.byaddr and hosts.byname
files.

/etc/hosts has about 20 host entries with all of the entries containing
multiple aliases per host.

server appears to build the files just fine but when I "ypcat hosts" it
returns multiple entries per host. This doesn't seem correct to me but
maybe I'm missing something. Is there some flag in the make that I
should be passing to correct this?

Thanks.

Kevin
