I would appreciate any help on this. I can't seem to get the NIS
client on my machine to work. I keep getting this error:

Listening for an NIS domain....... FAILED

This occurs after it binds successfully.
I tried to do
ypbind -debug
and I obtained

parsing config file
Trying entry: domain yyy.com server nis_server.yyy.com
parsed domain 'yyy.com' server 'host.yyy.com'
ping host host.yyy.com', domain 'yyy.com'
host 'host.yyy.com' doesn't answer.

I am running Redhat 9.0 and I'm pretty sure my yp.conf, nsswitch.conf
files are set up correctly.

Set a nis server for it in yp.conf.

Then either you are wrong, or they are OK and the server isn't.
What does the servers yp.securenets say?
