hi all,

i'm setting up a small linux network, using nis and nfs. Home folders
are on a red hat 9 server and they're nfs mounted on every
workstation. i have problems with nis users, they can log on every
computer, but it takes about eight minutes to open konqueror !!!

if I log in on a workstation with a local account konqueror opens in
just a few seconds. I think the problem is nfs related because the big
difference is the remote home folder. any idea?

thx
claudio

Take a look at your network infrastructure. It should not be noticably
different.
Look at your connection and speed; how much NFS traffic do you have per
machine?

I don't think network infraestructure is a problem. I'm testing a
client and the server connected to a 10/100 hub and there's no other
network traffic through the hub. It's just one client and one server
so the NFS traffic is not significant.

I realize that nfsstat shows a very high null percentage. I read about
it and it seems to be problems with automounter, but automounter is
not configured.

thx for your reply
Claudio
