Hi,

we have a Proliant 800 with 3 NIC's and 2000 Server with ISA 2000 & DHCP.
The first NIC has a static IP adres and connected with the LAN (192.168.0.x)
and the other NIC (first 1 then only 2) get his IP adres from the DSL router
(10.0.0.150 and up).

When the server starts, the first 5 minutes the internet-nic get his
ip-adres from the dsl-router (dhcp) and the server and clients are able to
browse the internet.
But after couple of hours. the NIC lost his ip-adres and get ip
169....(microsoft
no-dhcp).
Then connection with internet is broken of course.
This happens to both NIC's (one at a time).

!!! Another old server which consist the same and Proxy 2.0 instead of
ISA2000
does not have that problem (same type NIC for internet).

Any suggestions? (no ipconfig /renew does not help)
Is it allowed for a DHCP server to get a ip-adres from a dhcp-router for one
NIC?

!!! Someone suggested to authorize the adsl-dhcp-server under 2000. This did
not help.

there's no place like 127.0.0.1

I had told to authorise the router DHCP, and
it seems now instead of earlier 5 -10 mins, it now
released it after 2 Hrs.

In the event viewer is there any error log related to this? If it is there
please inform the event ID.

Check the default gateways on your nics on that multihomed machine.
Windows 2000 prefers that only one default gateway be set on such a
machine. I found a server once that had a gateway set for both its
external and internal nics, and periodically workstations would
inexplicably drop their ip addresses. Removing the gateway from the
lan nic solved the problem.
