Check the default gateways on your nics on that multihomed machine.
Windows 2000 prefers that only one default gateway be set on such a
machine. I found a server once that had a gateway set for both its
external and internal nics, and periodically workstations would
inexplicably drop their ip addresses. Removing the gateway from the
lan nic solved the problem.
