Getting dsl and looking for suggestions for any credible web sites
that sell nic cards, or if I would be better off getting one at a local
computer store.

Any suggestions for nic card brands? I've read many posts that suggest
cheapos work find, but it may be better to get a brand name anyway.
Since this is new territory for me, I'm looking for suggestions.

(A)DSL connections usually use 10Mbit link between (A)DSL modem
and your system. The actual (A)DSL speed depends on your
ISP/contract but is mostly well below 10Mbit/sec. No need for a
quality nic, some cheapo rtl8139 based will do fine. Quality NICs
include intel/3com adapter.

Good luck

work.

A nice old s/h ISA half-duplex Intel 10Mbps (eepro) card serves me
well for this. Unexpected lockups requiring modem power cycle to
restore may be due to modem unable to handle full-duplex. Fix by
switching modem NIC to half duplex.

Cheers.
