I am currently with Pipex at the moment, and their binaries suck big time.
My contract is up in January and in the meantime I am looking at an outside
news provider.

What I am looking for is someone who will offer around a gig per day, but
not everyday. For example 30gig to roll over a month regardless of daily
usage. Also not to tie me in for more than one month at a time. And of
course be fast, preferably sustaining 40-50k per second.

If anyone can suggest a company I would be most grateful.

Thanks
John

I've just moved from BT to Plus Net & thier news server seems to be very
fast and holds all of the groups I want ( CD.image etc). Retention seems to
be around 5 days and completions seem good.

If you're looking for an extra news package, Titan News sell blocks of 200
GB anytime for $99. I've got their 1 GB/day for $99/year which is excellent
value if you can cope with the 1 GB/day limit. Retention is around 19 days
in binaries and completion is very good too.

Sounds good. Also there are Claranews accounts on annual or monthly
(monthly only available for data quota above 10 GB/month) rates that
can be used from pretty much any ISP. I'd suggest PlusNet's service
as a replacement ISP, as their completion is now very good on groups
I've looked at. PlusNet has a mail and news account aimed at only BT
Broadband users (unfortunately). Peter Morgan.

PlusNet <http://tinyurl.com/24ymz> - I recommend them and save some cash.
Depends on account that is opened by new customer, but good value ISP IMO.

I used to have a Claranews Unlimited account, and although
for the most part I had no serious problems, they did have
some ongoing issues with completeness
