Try shutting down the DSL modem for a few minutes, then restart it. See
if it both computers can get a connection. Sometimes this seems to help
with wayward connections. BTW, are both computers getting IP addresses?
Run ipconfig from a command prompt and verify that both are set up
identically with different IP addresses. Post this info back here if
there is a problem.
Further, are you certain that the news server does not require a valid
username and password? I know that some DSL ISPs require news
authentication.
