I'm on O2 ADSL.

Everything else is fine, but I can't connect to news.bbc.co.uk, nor get
a ping response. Is anyone else seeing this?

Fine here. (Claranet)

Watching bbc election news..

BBC servers don't respond to pings IIRC.

Try a traceroute (Tracert on windoze)

Thanks for the replies.

Following the results, I can now access the site again!

I'll just assume something was flooded somewhere, whether it be true or
not. :-D

Fine here too (ISP: Entanet)

gordon @ yakko: ping -c10 -q news.bbc.co.uk
PING newswww.bbc.net.uk (212.58.226.79) 56(84) bytes of data.

--- newswww.bbc.net.uk ping statistics ---
10 packets transmitted, 10 received, 0% packet loss, time 9009ms
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 13.499/14.709/16.696/0.778 ms

But note the differnet IP address - you'll get a different IP address
depending on where you are and possibly even what ISP you're using.
