Here are 6 solutions,
(1) Short patch cable and crossover joiner adaptor.
(2) Short crossover cable and straighthrough joiner adaptor
(3) Buy a mini hub and one patch cable.
(4) Get a new end crimped on the cable .
(5) Cut the cable and splice it
(6) Wire one end to an RJ45 wall socket crossed wired.
Maplin and others sell crossover adaptors but are a rather pricey place
to buy patch cables.
From most smaller PC shops the going rate for a very long xcrossover
cable and two PCI 10/100baseT network cards is abot 12 pounds.
