Hi all, Bit a of a newbie question here.

Im thinking about getting the Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router WRT54G-UK,
but need to know it will work how I hope it will.

I have my desktop which connects to the internet via my usb ADSL modem. I
want to be able to conect both wireless and wried machines to the network
and share files, play games and share the internet conection (from the usb
modem on desktop not an ethernet modem conected to the AP).

Pritty much everything I used to do with my 2 pc wired network but with more
PC's and both wired and wireless network adapters.

All OS's will be XP. Is that all possible?

Thanks in advance.
Neil

Yes, it's all possible, but why are you determined to do it the hard way? My
advice would be to get a proper combined ADSL modem/router with ethernet
connections and throw the USB device away. The wireless access point can also
be combined, or a separate unit, depending on the best physical placement for
wireless coverage.

If you can use a combined unit, a US Robotics 9106 or a Draytek 2600G has
everything in one box, and Linksys probably make something equivalent. This
will enable you to add more computers than you are ever likely to need, using
a mixture of wired and wireless connections, without interfering with existing
ones.

Rod.

Thanks for your (very fast!) help.

Yeah I see what your saying, only reason i was going to do it that way was i
had the usb modem already and saw the WRT54G on offer I'll have a look
round at those other models you suggest though see what I can pick them up
for.

Thanks again!
Neil
