Simple question from a confused newbie:

Apart from £3, what is the difference between BT Broadband and BT OpenWorld
Broadband?

Thans in Advance.

BT Broadband is a wires only service i.e. You get just the connection to
the Internet and have to provide your own email, news and web
facilities. There is also a 1GB per day ceiling on BT Broadband
connections although this is not enforced yet.

You can make use of the news.btopenworld.com server via BT Broadband.

BT Openworld is more like a normal ISP with the usual facilities.

BTB is sold as a cut-down service, with no guarantee of news or mail
(but you'll see posts from others which give the server names, which
currently work, though servvice could be withdrawn without notice, I
guess!). BTB also has a nominal 1 GB / day traffic limit which may
not be enforced at present, but I'm not using them so don't know

Apart from the cost, there's the payment method, which is perhaps a
little more flexible on BTO (I'm not with them, either) compared to
the monthly/quarterly billing with your phone service, (though that
may be easier to get refunded from an employer). Peter M.
