I would like to connect two hardwire home networks to make a single
network. I need to learn what hardware to be looking at, helpful websites,
etc. Here is a brief description of what needs to be done.

Each home has a cat 5 ethernet based network with a few computers, network
printers, and a LinkSys router (one 4 port, one 8 port). One of the
routers is connected to a cable modem.

The two homes are 600 feet apart with an intervening home and lots of
trees. Using either commercial or homemade antennas would be fine.

Can this be done? Should we look at 2.4 GHz or 5 Ghz, access points or
bridges. What questions should I be asking? What web sites should I be
reading?

Many, many thanks.
