Hello All,
I'm runnig 3 pc behind a Linksys router. Is it safe to network
the pcs together and just use the Firewall in the router? At the moment I
all 3 with firewalls running but this causes major problems with file
sharing.
2 pc's run Win Xp and the other 2K,all three have AV software and
anti-spyware software.
Cheers,
Drew

The router firewall will block all incoming connections so you're safe
from outside intrusion. What it won't stop without configuration is
connections from malware on your computer to the outside world.

Personally I just use Windows Firewall and the one in my Netgear blocks
all incoming and I've been fine.

I'm really a nice guy. If I had friends, they would tell you.

Should be fine provided you keep on top of the AV and anti spyware with
very regular updates and scans. Firewalls shouldn't stop file sharing
BTW, you just need to find the setting that allows it!

is this a wireless lan ? If so you defiantly need the local firewalls.
Personally i would always have the f/w installed, and then just open up
the ports you require.
