I have a desktop with CD and a laptop without CD - the desktop have Win
and Suse 9.2 Prof and a laptop have Win and SuSe 9.1 prof. Both boxes
boxes connected to a router with DHCP. I want to use a CD from the
desktop on my laptop from Linux. I know how to share CD using Win - but
how to do it from Linux?

Thanks,

Zalek

Assuming its a data cd (rather then music) then just mount it and then share
the mount point of SMB (with Samba) or NFS. The specifics depend on which
implemention you go for, so RTFM the technology you choose.

You can activate samba sharing in Linux
which is same as windopes file sharing - but windopes file sharing is
notoriously crappy and samba can only do its best.

You can alternatively activate ssh on the GNU/Linux PC, and then
install winscp in the windopes machine and then tranfer files securely
between the two machines in a similar way to windopes file sharing.

Thanks for the answer. So now from my laptop I can access a CD on my
desktop. The reason I want to do it is that I have CDs with SuSe 9.2
prof and I want to upgrade my laptop to SuSe 9.2 - and here is a
problem:
To upgrade a desktop I changed BIOS to boot from the CDROM, put the CD
in CDROM drive and started my machine. I cannot do this with my laptop
- so how to upgrade my laptop to SuSe 9.2 when I am in SUse 9.1? Which
file starts the upgrade process?

Thanks,

Zalek
