Hi, I know you have answered this a thousand times before, but I'm really
lost in this wireless stuff.
The thing is that we have dsl at the office, where some like 10 pcs are
sharing internet through a W2000 server with the dsl modem. Some 100m away,
at home, we have one pc upstairs and another downstairs.
There is an Internet provider that offers the Router 3Com Wi-Fi 11g and I
don't know if that would be enough to reach home. I know that at home I need
at least a pci wireless card, but which one? there is such an offer in the
market and I can't even tell black from white.
If you could be of any help... Thanks a lot

You don't need a router just wifi access point will do. (the office network
already has a router / server)
It would work if you have clear line of sight trough windows, (mine works
great at 75m).
It might work through walls depending what they made of AND there is clear
space in between.
Don't get PCI cards, get Orinoco USB adapters which are on 1.2m cable so
they can be placed on a window sill.
Regards,
Martin

100m is too far for the 3COM. If the office and house have thick concrete
walls 20 m will be the max. probably.
Try to find a router/AP with an extra antenna.

thank you John
I have just phoned the IP that gives the router and asked them if an extra
antenna is attachable to it. No way. I don't know if it is true or not,
since most of the people who answer phones in technical advice know the same
or less than oneself.
