Hi Group

Hoping someone may be able to help me. I got my ADSL turned on tonight,
plugged in the splitter in the extension in the lounge, connected the modem
up, etc, everything running fine until we had an incoming phone call.
Outgoing calls worked fine then all of a sudden the phone stoped working
when the modem is connected. Disconnect from the internet everythings
working, when its connected its like having a modem again - BT 1571 kicks in
for incoming calls and i dont get an outgoing dial tone.
Anyone any ideas? Tried a different microfilter with the same results, tried
the phone in another extension,

any help massively appreciated !

Dave

well they way i see it is, the phone line comes in from the wall, it goes to
the main telephone point (that has a socket but nothing plugged in) a wire
comes out of that into a small BT box which splits into two wires, on going
upstairs (with nothing plugged in)and the other into the lounge. The only
thing that has anything plugged in is the the socket in the lounge which has
the filter leading to the phone and to modem

It cant be that the splitter out of the mainbox needs to be filtered can it
? I cant do that as they are hard wired into the BT box.

Could it be a faulty modem? I've tried two filters but I'm confused as to
why it worked for the first 5 mins.

I've also updated the modem drivers with no luck.

It could either be faulty filters or a faulty modem.

Which filters are they?

Does the modem work currently, if everything else is unplugged?

Regards

There has been problems with 'some' DECT cordless phones when connected to
an ADSL enabled line - a search on Google may reveal the offending
make/models.

If I were you... nip round to your neighbour's house in the morning and ask
to borrow their phone for 10 minutes. If it works, you will probably need
to get yourself a new telephone.

Hope that helps?

Or maybe a different filter, like the one at www.adslnation.co.uk.
