Hi, please forgive a networking newbie's ignorant question, but
having searched for an answer I've not found one yet.
A year ago, I inherited two adsl modems, one a USB device obtained free
from my isp and the other a wireless modem/router given to me as a
present. But because I only had one computer, the need to use both
never came up and I've been happily using the freebie USB modem (due
to the ease of configuration more than anything else) for a year now
and the more expensive hardware has, quite frankly, been gathering
dust.
However, I've recently got another computer, which I intend to use on
a different floor of the house and I would now like to share my
Internet connection between the two. Now the obvious answer would be
that the wireless router/modem should now (cobwebs removed) come into
it's own. But, (and here's the real crux), rather than setting up
a wireless network (which despite the obvious benefits), I'm loathed
to do mainly because of some security/reliability concerns, and not
wanting to go for the "miles of cable" wired alternative either -
my question is: would it be possible to share connection using
"both" modems, one for each computer.
Any advice would be appreciated
