Hi I have just changed from a wired network to a wireless one using a
Linksys Wireless G Router and have 2 PCs fitted with Linksys Wireless G
cards, the problem I am having is that the connection keeps getting dropped
and I then have to reconnect, I have had a look at the settings of the
router but to be honest don't really know that much about it to be playing
with them.

Appreciate any help you can give

Any microwave ovens or baby monitors operating nearby?

Could it be on the same channel as a neighbouring WLAN (try changing
channels)?

Any big obstacles in the way (thick walls etc)? - try positioning a PC
right next to the WAP to see if its a range/obstacle problem

Gotta say, I've got one of these and it works just fine. You might want
to try a firmware update as well. Very straightforward, download it from
the website and then browse to the file.

Hi thanks for the reply, some answere to your questions

No baby monitors or Microwaves

Have tryed changing the channels

Have the PC right next to the WAP , signal strength excellent

Is there some sort of setting either in XP or the router that auto cuts off
after so long ? it seems to cut off at regular intervals.

Not sure if this applies.

I have a Linksys Router and in the set up is a radio button titled "Connect
on Demand: Max Idle Time" which I have set to five minutes. Below this is is
another radio button titled "Keep Alive: Redial Period" which I assume if
set keeps the connection live.

Not sure if it's the same for your wireless router.
