Still struglling setting up an Infrastructure wireless network:

Hardware

Access Point connected to power supply only
Wireless PCI card in Host computer
Wireless Cardbus card plugged into laptop

Have I got the hardware connected correctly OR should the Access Point also
be wired (Ethernet) to the Host Computer ?

Providing the SSID is same on each connection, WEP key is same, Access point
set to DHCP ? & host computer & laptop set to obtain IP address
automatically, firewall disabled surely this should work ?

When I go into the browser menu for the Access point, presumably I leave the
standard IP address & subnet mask ? 192.0.2.1/255.255.0.0.

PS. I havn`t setup logins or passwords on each connection, do I need to ?
I can`t find a NodeType in my registry key below either:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE|SYSTEM|CurrentControlSet|Servic es|NetBT|Parameters

Not enough information. Are the computers connecting at all? Are they
being assigned an IP address? Can you ping an IP address? Can you ping a
computer by name?

Having a NodeType set should generally be irrelevant. If there is a
DHCPNodeType set to 2 and no NodeType, or if there is a NodeType of 2,
where there is no WINS server, you won't see a Network Neighborhood (but
will still be able to connect by IP address).

My system, for some strange reason, set its own NodeType to 2, so I now
keep it set to 8 all the time.
