Spend some time in the office poking around to see what you can find. Ask if
the previous tech left any notes. If they didn't, the client will have to
pay someone to do the investigation & research. Oh, and later, the client
should also pay you or someone to write up documentation for them, as the
business owners should have this general info at their fingertips.
I like to do this kind of work before I actually touch/change anything on a
new client's network.
