the default gateway is the machine assigned as a router. so if you have a
router somewhere in the network, you should assign its ip-address as a default
gateway. You can use the server as a router for the workstations, but the
server has to have a way out as well. to be able to move the packets on to
another network. If you have for instance an ADSL device in the network you
should give its address as default gateway. (the address of the ADSL router
should be:192.168.1.x is it something other it will not work.
