I've had this working fine at our local library before but had to
re-install xp for another purpose. Now the Network Wizard doesn't seem
to be doing it's job.
It's a $50 Netgear wifi 802 USB thing that plugs into an XP laptop.
The Netgear driver is installed and connected with good signal
strength.
It seems like the network connection is ok but the IE browser is
looking for dial-up or DSL instead of wireless.
From a dos prompt within windows I can ping our address and get a
response but if I go to the connection icon in the task bar I see that
so many bytes have been sent but zero have been received. If I look
under Details it says, "no valid ip address". I screwed around and got
one eventually but IE still say's "cannot connect to this web page" or
something similar.
Any ideas? I'm not a computer genius but I know my way around most of
the menus. Thanks for your time.
