New Vista Computer Connecting a MN-500 Broadband Base Station

I have a question.

I just purchased a new Vista Home Premium computer to replace a older XP
computer that had a MN-500 Broadband Base Station connected to it using the
Broadband Wireless Utility. The new Vista Computer connects to the Base
station via its own wireless adpater very easily (once I enter the key).

My question, however, is if I connect the Base Station directly to the Vista
Computer to make it the primary server for my wireless network, will it work
or will the MN-500 not work (because it does not appear to be Vista
Compatible)? Sorry if the question does not make sense, I need the new
computer to be the main server and do not want to trash the network if I try
to make it so.

No computer has to act as a 'main' computer for the router. The router is
completely standalone.

Even the 'software' for the router is redundant, as you can configure
everything in the router by going to http://192.168.2.1

Jason

Thanks much! I took the chance of disconnecting the "old" computer and
placed a wireless adapter on it - and sure enough - you were exactly correct.

The router is stand alone and I am in business! Thanks for your reply!

be aware that WEP is no longer secure and is easily broken. you are
putting your data, privacy and security at risk. please consider
purchasing a new modern router that supports WPA2 wireless security.

I have a different situation.

I have a printer connected to my MN-500 base station. I had a couple XP and
200 laptops on the network that accessed the printer with no problem.

I now have 2 Vista computers and while I have no problem using the base
station to access the internet, I cannot see the printer.

Any help?

thanks
