Small network, 10 wKstns, w2k DC, AD. A new employee will be replacing my
boss winxp pro station. She needs all the same permissions, programs,
etc.Can I just rename , say all Linda references to Barbara? I know I can in
Microsoft mail, and AD. what about local?
thanks
Frank

If you just create the new user's account on the domain and then give the
user the same rights on the local machine as your boss, then you shouldn't
need to rename anyhing locally. After the user logs in for the first time it
will automatically create a local account with the new user's details.

Hi,
Thanks, forgot to mention the new user will need to continue on with the old
users spreadsheets, word docs etc. She was the company bookkeeper

If the docs and spreadsheets are stored on the server, as long as you give
the new user access to the folder(s) then there isn't a problem. If the
works saved locally, then give the user permissions on the folder they are
stored in. If you can move any locally stored info off the pc and on to a
server, to be part of your backup procedures, as that a better solution.
